ST ALEXIS THE MAN OF GOD
St. Alexis the Man of God (Feast day: March 17th) was born in Rome in the 4th century. Before he married, St. Paul appeared to him in a vision and said: “He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me.” After he married, this vision haunted him, so he gave up everything and entered a monastery in Syria for 18 years. After this he returned to Rome and to his parents house, but they did not recognize him. He took up residence near by to live a life of asceticism and to counsel his family and the locals. Before St Alexis died, he wrote a letter to his family explaining his identity.
DIRECTIONS
St Alexis the Man of God’s relics are in the Basilica dei Santi Bonifacio ed Alessio in Rome Italy.
Fortunately, the relics are not too difficult to find because they are southwest of Circo Massimo near Emporio Station.
Note: On google maps it reads San Alejo en el Aventino. This is the place.
Once you enter the Church the relics will be on the left side. If you look closely, there is a staircase above the altar. St Alexis the Man of God lived below this staircase at his parents house.
